BEWARE if you want to submit a children's book!I submitted a picture book. They accepted it. I told them I don't have an illustrator. They told me they had illustrators on staff. After all the paperwork and upfront payments, they sent me samples. They all looked very similar, which I now think was AI-generated. I didn't like the styles and sent in samples from other picture books that matched what I envisioned for my story. I don't remember them responding. They also said the amount I prepaid would provide 12 single-page illustrations or 6 double-paged illustrations. My book was going to be 36 pages long, and I would have to pay extra for more pages. I recinded my book and asked for a refund. They said they don't give refunds, but I could send in another manuscript. Now I have to submit a whole new manuscript just so I don't lose the money I paid! I won't submit another picture book, so I need to write something else!
