I had an extremely disappointing experience with Petsecure.
My cat became acutely ill shortly after my coverage began. Despite the illness being sudden and clearly not pre-existing, Petsecure denied the claim based on a 48-hour waiting period technicality — effectively classifying an emergency as “pre-existing or foreseeable,” which is both misleading and unreasonable.
While their policy language may allow this, the way it is applied shows a complete lack of compassion for pet owners dealing with real medical emergencies. Emergencies don’t wait for arbitrary timelines, and denying coverage under these circumstances feels like poor customer service at best and bad faith at worst.
I was trialing Petsecure with the intention of continuing coverage and insuring my other cat as well. Based on this experience, I will not be renewing and will be taking my business elsewhere. I’m sharing this so other pet owners understand how claims may be handled if their pet becomes ill during the waiting period.
