I booked a hotel through a service eight months in advance. It showed a crossed-out price of $521 and a new price of $389 with a note saying 'you will not be charged yet.' However, I was charged $521 immediately. When I contacted customer service for clarification, they said they would reach out to the property about the refund, which should not be an issue since it was within hours of the booking. The property refused to refund me, even after I canceled. I disputed the charge, but they denied the refund again. I asked if the booking could be reinstated due to my commitments, but they denied that as well. This has been the worst experience ever!
