I thought it was another site that friends had told me about - Plenty Of Fish. I signed up, thought little of it, then got loads of messages. But I couldn't read the messages unless I paid for VIP membership. I did that. Then I started responding to the messages. I am now one month down the line, and not one single account on the site that contacted me was genuine. After a while - varying from a few minutes to a couple of weeks, the accounts ask for money. I feel embarrassed that I shared details of my life, and photos, with scammers. There may be genuine people on the site, but I haven't found them yet, so I'm closing the account, and shrugging off the loss of the money. More fool me for not taking more care first.
