Teachers and parents can check my grades whenever they desire, questioning certain marks on certain assignments. It's awful to acknowledge that my every move throughout my 180 days in the prison called middle school can be, and is being watched. I feel like a baby in a crib cam as a result of the monitoring of my grades. There was one point when I checked PowerSchool about 8 times a day, and I became obsessed with it. Every time my grades went down by a single point, I would have a meltdown and start crying. My classmates judged me for it, my teachers were heavily concerned, and I at that point was a paranoid mess. I would always strive for perfection, telling myself that a 99 isn't good enough. Students, parents, and teachers alike should not have access to grade information. It just deteriorates the mental health of students, and creates tension at home, and in the classroom. This school year, I just turned off. I barely try anymore, I turn things in late, and I don't care about my grades. I have just become so tired. It's as simple as that. I know I will need to start trying again when I am in high school next year, but it will be hard with this system. I have also gotten grounded multiple times for having zeros that THIS WEBSITE showcased to my parents. That got rid of one of my forms of escapism from school, which was video games. My mentality towards school has taken a full 180, and quite a few other students in my school feel pressure due to PowerSchool. For the past couple of years I have had to deal with Powerschool, I would just like to say that it is creating anxiety in students, and also stressing them out. That sentence alone should be enough to explain why I hate this.
