If you are in the market for trying to, "off" someone... I can highly recommend this dealer. If on the other hand... you are paying above market rate for the safe knowledge that you are going to be comprehensively looked after... walk away.About 18 months ago my wife bought a car from this firm. It was quite a surprise in many senses. The car in question was a Dacia Sandero. Well. Tehcnically I think it was several Dacia Sandero's... but we'll get to that in a minute.Just looking at the vehicle my alarm bells were ringing. But I couldn't quite put my finger on as to why. They delivered it from Luton over to The South Coast.. which was great. And I really enjoyed the car at first. It had a kind of extra sporty feeling when you chucked it into a curve. I didn't know why until I finally convinced my wife to take it to our tame mechanic for a look over... but it turned out that this sporty feeling was actually because there was no grip on the tyres whatsoever. All four of them were worn down smooth with cord showing through. It was a deathtrap alright. But my mechanic only had worse news to deliver. The front bumper was a replacement that they hadn't even bothered to spray correctly. All in all... my mechanic found about 46 defects... most of them really quite hazardous to health.I am therefore not all that sure HOW exactly it came with a fresh MOT as my mechanic said there was no way it should have been issued one. As far as he could make out... the car had been in quite a heavy front end impact at some stage. And what they couldn't pull straight they just cut out and put another part from a different car in. I thought we were beyond the Era of Cut and Shut cars. Apparently not. When I called up the dealer to bring up these issues... he became very angry with me and refused to talk to me. I was particularly interested in how it had a fresh MOT. He asked me if I was accusing him of anything. I said yes. And that was the end of that.I was so absolutely gobsmacked at how many defects this one vehicle had... that I felt I had no choice but to report the issue to DVLA. I note with interest that he is still trading. This is probably good news if you are looking to kill an elderly relative whom you expect to inherit money from. Not so great if you are after a nice, reliable little run around for work and general daily life.I went so far as to ask Auto Trader as to why he had so many awards. Apparently this isn't something they could comment on as they are automatically applied after a number of good reviews. I'm not suggesting that this would be a number of bogus reviews... but if our experience is representative of him at his worst... just do not take the risk. This is a man who is perfectly happy to sell you a death trap with a big smile on his face and an eye on your wallet. Simple as.Fortunately we bought the car on finance. And after submitting our mechanics review of the additional life shortening features that had been added to the vehicle - we exercised our right to refuse the car. The finance company agreed. They were utterly appalled.I don't know how much he pays the poor sod who has to drive these vehicles to customers. But if he is indeed still with us... I would suggest it is not enough considering the risks involved. We all know used car salesmen do not often have the best of reputations. A cheeky Arthur Daley type is a tolerance at best.Someone who quite knowingly tries to sell what was basically a load of scrap bolted and welded together... is a very dangerous man even if he has the best intentions of putting food on the table for his family. He is quite happy to continue doing so even if he has blood on his hands. You have been warned. Please for the Love of God... if you do buy from this dealer - get the vehicle checked out by somebody competent as soon as you can afterwards.Perhaps our experience was a one off. Although the way he angrily hung up on me and refused to talk to me any further... as it was my wife who had bought the car... might suggest that he full well knows what he is doing and what he is trying to get away with.DVLA couldn't tell me what measures they took after I emailed them with my mechanics report and photographs. It is their policy. One can only hope that it caused them to turn over a new leaf. But then again... leopards rarely change spots. If Prestigio wish to refute any of this. I still have my mechanics report, photographs and of course my email dialogue with DVLA.Absolutely shocking behaviour from a grown man. Especially the hissy fit about a very legitimate question as to how the car got through an MOT. Unless maybe he changed the tyres for his, "Racing Slicks" after the event. Could be all sorts of reasons. Although I tend to stick with Occam's Razor on this one. The simplest explanation tends to be the truth.I really, really cannot urge you enough to exercise extreme caution.
