Visited the Llanelli Primark store recently to pick up some clothing. The shopping experience started off well—the range of clothes was reasonable, and the changing rooms were spacious and easy to access. However, things took a sharp downturn at the checkout. The entire checkout process was poorly designed and frustrating. The area appears to have been recently revamped, but not for the better. There was only one staff member handling sales and returns at a very small counter, and another stationed at a separate area where customers were funneled into a queue to use self-service checkouts. The self-checkouts themselves were confusing and inconsistent—some had handheld scanners, others did not. Trying to scan clothes, pay extra for a bag, and locate a printed receipt turned into a chaotic task. To make matters worse, as we attempted to exit, we were abruptly stopped and spoken to rudely by a staff member. Apparently, you’re required to scan your receipt in order to leave the area—something that was never made clear during the process. It left a sour taste after what had been a decent in-store experience. A little more signage, clearer instructions, and better staffing could make a world of difference. Until then, be prepared for a stressful finish to your shopping trip.
