I've had the ace of spades for about a year and a half. I live in nyc and ride around town with it. Main reason for getting was I wanted a belt drive for low maintenance/low mess and light so I could take up and down stairs because I keep in my apt. It has been very good to me <3. I ride a lot because sometimes the subway doesn't go exactly where I want! also riding a bike rules.
Loves:
-weight is #1 here. easy enough to carry in a stairwell even with rack and all the bullshit i have attached.
-maintenance has been literally wiping with a towel other than pumping tires. incredible.
-rack mounts are really nice thanks guys.
-gear ratio is perfect. I can go pretty fast, going up bridges is hard but doable. I honestly very rarely miss gears and would probably only want if i wanted to tour or move to SF or something.
-flip flop hub on a belt drive is an interesting experience.
likes:
-handlebar and grips are good. I've kept but nothing to write home about.
-brakes are good no problems
-seat was also fine, i replaced with a "nicer" one and possibly i enjoy it more but not any order of magnitude there.
-thickslick tires are fine. really sturdy which is in the spirit of this build but feel sluggish. i replaced with GP5000s and it made a big difference in feel but I've gotten a flat where I feel like that's basically impossible with thickslicks.
wishlist:
-wider tires. If yall make a wider tire version just email me and i will give you money. really think it would smooth out ride, bike lanes in nyc can be bumpy.
-full coverage fender mounts. would be dope.
-option for disc breaks? unsure if i'd even go for this but i probably would as breaking in rain is a little slower and makes tires disgusting. still work fine tho.
