On Monday, November 17th, around midday, I purchased the Early Career package from a well-known service for £100. This package promised a CV, cover letter, and updated LinkedIn profile within two days. Although I typically prefer a thorough process over speed, the promise of efficiency was appealing. Given the rise of tracking systems used by employers, I thought this would be a great gift for my son as he starts his career. I called beforehand to confirm their expertise in his field, which they affirmed, and specified that the service was meant for my son. Keisha, a helpful staff member, took his contact details while I finalized the online purchase, attaching his existing CV. That afternoon, Clare from the service contacted my son to discuss his upcoming role. The following day, Jacqui introduced herself as his CV writer. My son politely asked about her industry knowledge via email but did not receive a reply. By Wednesday, a draft was sent, but it was in a generic format filled with errors, including inaccuracies about his skills and academic subjects. He flagged these issues and requested a phone call, but there was no response. On Thursday, there was still no communication from the service. Late Friday afternoon, I reached out to Keisha again, who assured me they would be available until 8 PM on weekdays and on weekends, promising that Jacqui would contact us over the weekend. I appreciated her reassurance, but still, no contact was made. Now, late on Tuesday, November 25th, we received a second draft, which only addressed some of the prior issues. My son is becoming doubtful and is urging a focus on the cover letter and LinkedIn profile, fearing they may take another week. Now, eight days later, and six working days in total, I understand that quality work can take time.
