On the 9th of December, I picked up my prescription once again and left feeling frustrated. This was not unexpected, as I've often noticed a curious imbalance between the number of staff and their efficiency. That afternoon, I witnessed this firsthand—there were 3-4 people in the back and only two at the counter. Fortunately, a friendly young staff member found my prescription, but she then had to wait for a senior's approval. This senior was among those in the back, seemingly more engaged in gossip than in work. To give a clearer picture, most of them appeared quite disengaged. One staff member, who wore a religious head covering, approached me to discuss my medication, but instead took the opportunity to lecture me on racism. Ironically, I was the one who felt singled out, as I was not British and was treated as an outsider. It became clear that her attitude stemmed from a lack of shared values, reflecting a broader issue within a multicultural setting. Ultimately, when the transaction concluded, she tossed the package at me. Thankfully, I managed to catch it, avoiding any forced apologies, so I appreciate that small mercy.
