Mount Etna Sea to Summit Test Pilot Tripwas a really well organised affair attended by rat race crew Collette, Patrick & James The event had everything - beach start in the dark of night ( at a balmy 17degrees Celsius) running through quiet village streets, rural areas ,up through lovely woods with an unforgettable sunrise .We then popped out of the woods/forest and a fantastic vista came into view - the majesty of Mount Etna and its barren slopes .Having re-grouped at the ski centre , we walked up to altitude and had very experienced guides take us to the summit ( having checked that we were “well togged up” & handed us safety helmets) It was a great day and the whole group ( who had bonded brilliantly over the weekend ) finished the day with a very nice celebratory meal at a fine local restaurant and a couple of drinks afterwards back at the lovely hotel the whole group had stayed at .A great thanks to Collette, Patrick, James and the fellow rat race test pilots for a fabulous weekend and the fantastic memories I have from it.If this does become an event in 2026 or 2027, just make sure you have a quick trigger finger on the entry button as this event would be sold out very quickly.
