We recently had a complete bathroom refit, part of which included a bath shower screen. We loved the look of the end result. We had been advised by the bathroom showroom we used to proceed with a more expensive Roman hinged shower screen. Again it did look the part. However, on using the shower, we noticed a leak of water outside of the screen. ‘Roman’ technicians came to have a look, they carried out some corrective work and on leaving advised that we should contact the company if any problem persisted or returned. They said that they couldn’t test their work prior to leaving as the silicone was still wet.The shower wasn’t used for a further 48 hours just to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, when showering, the screen continued to leak on the lower hinged section. We contacted the company and we were reassured when they scheduled a further visit to establish a solution to the problem. To cut a very long story short, I was then contacted by customer services to say that although they would still visit, there was nothing more that could be done. What started as impressive customer service then became poor customer service- the impression given was that it wasn’t worth their effort or investment to try to put right the leaking shower screen. In short, my advice to any prospective customers, particularly if considering a hinged bath shower screen from Roman, is to shop around - you may well get better value for money. In the spirit of being even handed, the screen does look very good and enhances the look of our new bathroom. I will therefore improvise with what we have been left with to limit and hopefully eliminate the leak. I just feel that this would and should have been better left to the ‘experts’.
