Poor communication and limited information before considering curvature surgery

I contacted Safe Urology Clinic in Istanbul to enquire about congenital penile curvature surgery. Because this is a permanent and irreversible procedure, I asked detailed questions about the surgical technique, expected outcomes (including possible length loss and sensation changes), and examples of similar cases treated by the surgeon.Communication was handled through a patient coordinator named Diyaz-Yazdan, who introduced himself as a medical doctor assistant working with Prof. Dr. Taş Urology, Andrology & Oncology Clinic. I was told that my case had been discussed with the surgeon Prof. Dr. Taş. I was also informed in voice messages that the surgeon is considered among the “top 50 surgeons in the world.” However, when I later attempted to verify this claim independently, I was unable to find publications, articles, or sources confirming this.When I asked to see before-and-after examples of patients with a similar downward curvature to mine, I was only sent one image and then referred back to a marketing image from the clinic’s website. I was told they could not share their archive of cases due to privacy reasons. While I understand privacy concerns, many surgeons are able to present anonymised examples of previous work during consultations. In this case, no additional examples were provided.I was also told that certain techniques used by the clinic could correct curvature “without leaving visible scars.” When I asked for more information, references, or supporting material about these techniques, no further details or links were provided.The coordinator stated that the surgeon had reviewed my case, but despite this I was unable to receive clear answers to a number of my questions. Communication also became inconsistent, with messages unanswered for long periods despite the coordinator appearing active online.During the conversation I was eventually told “I think we are not the right clinic for your expectations.” After this, my request was closed. As a patient simply trying to understand a complex and permanent surgical procedure before making a decision, this was disappointing.Because this surgery permanently alters anatomy and cannot easily be reversed, I felt it was important to fully understand the surgeon’s experience, techniques, and case outcomes before proceeding. Unfortunately I was not able to obtain that level of clarity or supporting information.As part of my own research, I also tried to verify the surgeon’s experience specifically with penile curvature correction and related reconstructive procedures. While the clinic advertises treatments such as penile prosthesis and other men’s health surgeries, I personally could not find independent publications, surgical papers, or conference presentations demonstrating specific experience in penile curvature surgery.For that reason I decided not to proceed with Safe Urology Clinic in Istanbul for penile curvature surgery. I would strongly encourage anyone researching Safe Urology or penile curvature surgery in Turkey to carry out thorough research, ask detailed questions, and ensure they are completely confident in the surgeon’s specific experience before making a decision.This review reflects my personal experience when contacting the clinic for consultation.
