This move was quite easy: from a 5X15 storage locker to a single family home. The initial call went like a honeymoon, with the sales rep, David Lawrence asking all the right questions and giving an estimate of $3,500.However, the pickup was outsourced to "Move Happy" in Sacramento. The local mover began by scolding me by text for having more boxes than stated on the order. However, I never stated how many boxes there were, just the volume of a 5X15 locker, about 75% full. The sales rep entered the number of boxes. I had not seen the storage unit for over 2 years and had forgotten what exactly was in the storage unit and had no idea how many boxes there were. They were estimated by the experienced sales rep, David.I received a call the day before delivery from Move Happy. I would have to pay an extra $2,000 and a $500 additional small truck rental fee in a money order, no credit card, no check!Needless to say, David Lawrence, never called or texted my frantic calls to call me. Justin, his manager was the only one who would talk to me and we spent over two hours arguing. Justin offered to send me the recording of my conversation with David since he tried to argue that I made the mistake. I welcomed hearing the recording but somehow the recording never got sent to me!Nearly all parties on this move were unprofessional. I had no choice but to pay. The only reason they have two stars is because the local movers who moved the boxes into my house, were careful and Justin dropped the $500 small truck rental charge. But they held my possessions for ransom. It was like a hostage situation, where they try to wear you down until you pay to stop having to deal with their baloney.Addendum now the company has decided to respond on 8/1/2023.I think Safeway is extending the truth here because of a negative review!I have spent enough of my time trying to reach out to Safeway. If they wish to resolve this with me, they may reach out to me. They have my contact info. Asking me to reach out to them will end with me wasting my time again. To reiterate salient points: 1. they never sent a recording of the many conversations I had, like David said they would, 2. after an extensive convo, they determined how much stuff I had. They are the experts here. I suspect they underquoted to get the job, 3. Their on-site pick contractors, "Happy Movers" were unprofessional, wrote rude emails.
