Upon arriving the park looked nice, clean and well-maintained. The facilities were clean (more about that later) and there was a nice playground for the children. The staff appeared young and unexperienced, a bit bored maybe. With printed notices they warned guests about bad weather arriving. So why the one star? The website talked about “peace and quiet, getting away from it all…” What we got instead was the opposite. During our stay, we experienced loud music and drunk people shouting and screaming well past midnight. We talked to the staff about this experience and they said the noise disturbance is not uncommon. During our stay it occurred during and around the weekend, where large groups hire accomodation and it seems as if with little to no supervision these groups can do as they please. Like driving very fast on the campsite with motorised pets, playing loud music, shouting and screaming after midnight. At one noisy night, around 3 am, two police cars and an ambulance showed up for an incident related to drug and alcohol abuse. It didn’t feel safe. This place wasn’t anything like the child friendly place we imagined it to be. Our kids had trouble sleeping in and so did we. The staff did not seem willing or able to do anything about it. So after three such disturbed nights we finally decided to leave. We did request Sandaya for a refund of the unused time (12 nights). Perhaps the reply by mail from central office was even more unempathetic than our interactions with local staff. The mail appeared to be a default mail in case of noise disturbances, stating that ‘Les Aliscourts’ is a ‘club Sandaya’ that can be ‘more lively until midnight’. Furthermore, our impression is that they hide behind the policies on the website stating no refunds (and we had to pay our entire stay upfront). So one star for the experience. And the five stars campsite? I would expect some serious improvements. First, the pool felt dated and it could be cleaner. For example, in the inside pool there was a strange odor, like wet sweat socks or something. It felt unhygienic, even though you must wear a speedo. Ironically, wearing the correct swimsuit is the only thing they do seem to patrol diligently. Second, I would expect the restaurant to be open sooner than 19u, especially for a place that is oriented towards families with young children. Even if it is just take-away. Our kids must sleep around 19.30 so the restaurant was useless for us. Lastly the facilities. I guess the cleaner’s secret to keeping them clean is to make sure it is not used. Every morning around the time people go brush their teeth etc, the cleaner would have already closed off one site of the building that was being ‘cleaned’ and in the other half of the building all of the faucets except one would appear not working / disabled. The only one of them working was permanently running water (so much for the eco-request to guests to use water sparingly)… in the afternoon when it was quieter all faucets worked again. I wouldn’t expect such things from a five-star campsite. All in all I wouldn’t recommend anyone going to this campsite.
