This was my fourth football weekend with SMD, so that's Prague, Krakow, Oslo and now Naples/Salerno. As always, communication with the company is good, emails always answered promptly. The day before the weekend, we weren't sure exactly where we would be staying but it was sorted quickly and we ended up in a good hotel in Naples, near the central station. On the day of the game, we took a short train journey to Salerno to see Salernitana play. They used to be in Serie A but two successive relegations means they were playing in the third tier. So the standard of the football was pretty dire but the experience was great. The stand full of ultras sang, jumped around, lit flares and loudly supported their team. The referee lost control early on, sent a player off, presided over theatrical acting and diving, and played 17 minutes of added time. Before the game we spent the day in Salerno, a charming little town on the Mediterranean before heading back to Naples. The second day we saw a few of Naples' many sites, sat in taxis driven by maniacs, ate lots of fantastic food and enjoyed this crazy city and all its teeming life. Since my weekend in Prague on my own, I have told friends what a good time I had so on this trip there were five of us, three of them coming for the first time. We have already decided to do it again in 2026.
