What a brilliant weekend in Germany we had! We stayed in Dusseldorf, about 10 minutes walk from the train station - lovely hotel! We had tickets for Monchengladbach versus Freiburg, which was a super game to attend! An absolutely fantastic atmosphere and a cracking day in the sunshine! Mixing in with both sets of fans before and after the game was a fun experience too! All of the information supplied by Secret Match Day was spot on, it made the whole trip super easy. We ended up with 3 days in the country so wanted to make the most of it, so booked a ground tour back at Monchengladbach the following day which was absolutely superb. Seeing the stadium behind the scenes on a regular day was excellent, an experience that me and my son will never forget! We then took the opportunity to visit Gelsenkirchen which is about 45 minutes away on the train, and took in another tour this time at the Veltins Arena, home of Shalke 04. It's so easy to get around from Dusseldorf on the trains, it would have been crazy not to try and see as much as possible in the time we had! Our last day was spent with a quick visit to Leverkusen with a trip to the Bayarena, then down to Cologne and out to the Rhein Energie Stadion - again making full use of the excellent transport links in the city. It couldn't have been a better weekend!! Can't wait for our next trip!
