My friends dad passed and left over 1100 vhs films. In that collection we removed the Star Wars to keep but couldn’t find episode 3.
We took pictures of all the films spines and sent to this company. We was offered £300 to deliver them but couldn’t so he offered £200 for collection.
When he arrived we explained the situation and that film needs to come out. He got really funny and even threatened to leave without taking any if we didn’t include this film. It left my friend in a situation needing money towards a funeral which this guy knew about!
He took this film with a lot of others but left approx 6 boxes full of vhs without looking through them. This left my friend upset he has all the other Star Wars films but episode 3 now and to then find out several days later that this particular film was valued at approximately £150-£200!!!
This guy clearly knew what this was worth and didn’t care to be honest. Threatening to leave without taking any if he couldn’t take all films was 1 thing but to then leave with this film and also leaving 6 big boxes full without looking at them is another.
He paid my friend £200 for 800 vhs film and said this was a good deal……… I told this guy I was going to write a bad review and he was not happy and was rude and threatening as a result. As soon as he left I was blocked and feel like he absolutely scammed and screwed my poor friend off and he knew what he was doing by taking advantage of him in his situation. My friend. Also has begged me not to write this from fear of backlash but I refuse to let this guy get away with treating people like this.
I don’t appreciate being called a liar about what’s happened nor do I think it’s acceptable to label my attitude as he says roadman talk. I simply said and I quote that the information regarding this film I thought I had explained properly but it turned out. I explained it to another person who was also interested so there was a breakdown in communication.
The fact I was keeping the other five films it would be stupid and idiotic not to complete the set by keeping the episode three as now we have an incomplete set.
I’m not at all suggesting that you didn’t have room in the car to put the remaining six boxes of Vhs cassettes in because you didn’t have room what I’m disputing is the fact that you point blank refused to take any of the films if this episode three was not included as you wanted to take all of the films and the fact that you left six boxes behind because they wouldn’t fit in a car it wouldn’t hurt of you to have left that one film that we wanted and explained why.
It is a rare film and it would’ve been idiotic to send it given the value of the film was approximately what you paid for all of the films that you took meaning for south of that one film would’ve got most of if not all of your money back and you would’ve profited off the other hundred hundreds of Vhs films you took.
You knew the value of this film, which is why he put my friend in that situation because he didn’t have a clue and I stand firm that you took advantage of that.
My message to you after you had left, even though I wasn’t there was a valid message and whether or not my friend said I wouldn’t write a complaint of a review is one thing but I am also a man of my word if I say I’m going to do something I am going to do it and I think it’s only fair that people know this story so that in future others can doublecheck what they are selling because if they do have a diamond in the rough or something rare or vintage and they are unaware of it you are going to exploit that and that is not fair all good business all good practice.
Frost to complete this Vhs cassette collection now it is going to cost us almost what you paid him for the hundreds of films that you have had.
I am only standing up for my friend who has been walked all over because of his situation and whilst he may want to avoid any stress due to his current situation this should no longer involve him and only myself because I will always Speak Up for those that can’t Speak Up for themselves.
Also accusing myself of wanting to sell these for my friend and not give him a cut it’s just your assumption. He is my best friend and I wouldn’t do such a thing to anybody so please do not brush me up with the same cloth as you because I’m cut from a better cloth and as an honest and decent one that doesn’t take advantage of people.
If you had to leave another couple of hundred films behind because you didn’t have room for them it wouldn’t have hurt for you to have left that one particular film but again you knew the value of that film which is why you behaved the way you did, and that’s what’s angered me.
My friend is gutted but doesn’t want any hassle or stress because he feels nothing can be done about it and the only way I’m going to retract this bad review is if that film is returned to him.
