Be warned: Semrush uses classic "dark patterns" to lure customers into high-value subscriptions. I signed up for a 7-day trial and was never notified when it ended. They immediately began charging me $169.34/month without a single email reminder or prior notification—a clear violation of EU Consumer Law and Mastercard/Visa 2026 billing regulations. Also, cancellation process is deliberately non-intuitive.
I have not used this account since the day I created it. My Query Logs are completely empty, proving I have received zero value. I contacted them to cancel the unwanted subscription and for a refund, because clearly I don't use nor need this service. Despite this, and despite me contacting them within 24 hours of the charge to object, they refuse to refund my money, citing "internal policies."
According to the law, I have the rights to request a refund within 14 days if the service was not used. Although, Semrush is insisting on internal policies and their terms & conditions. However, internal "Terms of Service" are legally unenforceable if they contradict EU Directives. Under the EU Unfair Contract Terms Directive, maintaining a policy that allows for the retention of high-value payments for services that were never rendered and were immediately contested is considered an abusive and unfair practice.
Companies operating within the EU market are legally required to align their internal refund policies with these consumer protection laws.
Semrush is knowingly keeping funds for services they can see were never rendered. This is not "fair business"; it is predatory billing.
I have contacted EU legal authorities and initiated a bank chargeback.
Avoid this company if you value transparent billing.
