This is from a point of view of selling on Shopify as a merchant. The integrations to 3rd party apps don't work properly and your marketing budgets will be higher than if you sell using your own hosted platform. I've used both self-hosted frameworks, and Shopify, and while the Shopify platform looks "easy-to-use", and you do get sales, it's integration to marketing platforms is extremely poor and doesn't give accurate reporting or budget control. Their support teams aren't helpful and point you to 3rd party developers that charge money to give you more help. Use with extreme caution.
