For over a month I have been attempting to transfer my balance out of Simple to close my account. However, the transfer functionality on both their website and app are broken, so transfers aren't possible. In addition, they now claim my non-expired debit card is "retired" so I cannot use my debit card to remove funds from an ATM. I have sent 5 support messages with zero responses. Today I called customer service, and they suggested I use cash app (which requires a functioning debit card), venmo, or paypal to transfer funds because of a "bug" in their system. This isn't a bug, it's a catastrophic failure of a banking institution in allowing customers to access their funds. I've filed a complaint with the FDIC.They're closing and transferring accounts to BBVA, but this is wholly unacceptable and I can't imagine how many people are being impacted by this right now. Unconscionable.
