Terrible line when calling about cancelling repayment of my student loan and adviser was quite unclear. Asked to repay via direct debit but was told I would not be eligible, so would need to continue paying through PAYE, then have the money refunded through payroll, and that SLC would put an automatic stop on repayments through PAYE by notifying HMRC. Sounds like it will take a long time to receive the refund and I wasn't left with a lot of confidence that payments through PAYE would automatically stop.
