Went into the London Monument store to buy a hat and gloves, to keep warm in the very cold April weather! I'm an trail Ultra runner participating in winter events, so have a good knowledge of brands and kit. I chose a Rab hat at £20 and pair of Icebreaker Merino glove liners at £27, which are always usefuls. I was then charged £50! I pointed this out to the cashier, who said they can charge more than it says on the ticket! I pointed out that is false advertising. The cashier then went into a long boring explanation and I could contact customer services to verify she was right. I then asked for a refund, at which point she said she would credit me the difference of £2! I scoffed and pointed out that the difference was £3, she took that as offensive and told me not to be rude! I did get a £3 credit, not yet showing in my account.I later checked on Citizens Advice, businesses can charge more than on the label but only if they point this out before taking payment. However, if they take payment without making you aware of the price difference, they are obliged to credit you the difference. Overall the most pathetic shopping experience I've had. Snow and Rock need to improve their staff training and ensure products are correctly priced!Buy lots of outdoor kit, never been into a Snow and Rock before, might occasionally use Cotswold Outdoors but they are not always competitively priced, won't now use either in the future.
