Our 6 month old Illiger’s macaw Percy is now fully free flight trained and will enjoy the 40 odd years she has free in the sky having the time of her life. The foundations were provided for us to act on and now we can develop Percy’s skills due to the guidance from SWF. Ola from SWF was just the best teacher speaking from research and her own experience with her flock and this was a massive help from someone who’s free flight trained multiple birds of her own and from other bird owners. There was always opportunities to ask questions and no question was too silly. Our first free flight didn’t go exactly as planned (they never do as Ola did warn us of this) and Percy ended up in a tree but because of the lessons we took with Ola and the insight and literal step by step checklist we were best prepared to deal with this and we recovered Percy only a few minutes after she went up.
