I’ve got a Specialized Stumpjumper Comp in Matt Sage White, which I’ve had for about a year. From new I found the paint marks very easily, be it mud or oil/grease, it leaves a stain that can’t be cleaned off. The frame is now starting to look a total mess for a bike that hasn’t been used a great deal. I’ve contacted Specialized and had it checked at one of their dealers who fed back more pictures to them (which I had already done). Specialized say it’s acceptable, just wear and tear. They say I should have got it wrapped from new!! Is this acceptable? £100 for the kit and £150-£250 to get it applied!! Surely this bike shouldn’t be sold in Matt finish if it can’t be cleaned? I feel Specialized are not facing up to an obvious fault by using Matt paint that is totally unacceptable for any bike, road or off road and they simply don’t care. I have got a few of their bikes but I won’t ever buy another one due to their terrible customer service.
