At Eyre Sq Galway Specsavers, I needed a new prescription and had 2 options to choose from. The optometrist was excellent (5 stars) and explained the pros & cons of each clearly and simply. Then I spoke to another staff member whose role was to guide me through my options to help me choose. This didn’t go so well (0 stars).I felt that she was trotting out a spiel and not actually listening to what I needed. Although I kept saying that I was getting more confused, she made no effort to simplify matters.Many opticians’ customers are going to be older people, many are going to have anxiety or cognitive issues, and many will not have English as their first language. I consider myself an average customer but I left Specsavers with my head spinning.This ‘professional’ also had a trainee with her, observing our interaction. It was certainly good training in how NOT to communicate effectively!This rating is not fair for the other staff I met, who were all great. So, my apologies to them.I haven’t as yet returned there to order my glasses.
