I had an 8kW system installed on the 22nd of April. A very neat job and done quickly. The issues started after about a month. The entire system would trip out on overvoltage protection when there was intermittent strong sunshine. I contacted SPV, and received no help. Luckily I'm an electrical engineer so I delved into the settings and limited the amount of voltage the invertor could send to the battery. Problem solved, for a while.After a few months it was obvious that one battery wasn't going to be enough to cover my electrical load. Having finally managed to get SPV to supply and install a second battery after enduring constant stalling, the overvolt problem returned, however this time it was just the warning alarm, it never tripped out. The second battery also has an issue where it charges when it wants to, not when it should. It will often sit at 93% and won't charge despite excess energy being exported to the grid. I informed SPV of this straight away, but was still sent the bill for the second battery a day later. I again contacted them and made it plain that no payment would be sent through until the problems were resolved. A week later I was informed that they would send someone out to install a firmware update which should solve the problem. There was no explanation as to why the installers didn't bring the update with them when installing the second battery. So two weeks pass, finally someone arrives out to update the battery, the update wouldn't install.....After 3 hours the man gave up and asked to take the battery with him to update it from the office, leaving me with the newer battery which charges when it feels like it. I stupidly agreed. This was last Thursday, I was assured the update would be installed the next day. The following Tuesday, the day of writing this, and having heard nothing, I contacted them again, only to be informed they hadn't even attempted to install the update and would "try to get around to it tomorrow".....To sum up, they are only interested in getting in and out. Once they have your money they don't want to know. Appalling after sales service....Lesson learned....
