Im a professional gardener and gave stiga about £2500 worth of a try. The backpack, with two of the 475 cells, fast chargers, sph900ae, the 700 series polesaw and short arm hedge cutter. Pole saw broke immediatley and the dealer refunded that leaving me feeling uncertain about being stranded with all these batteries that would soon be non refundable.
next was the extending feature of the sph900ae being hampered by the worst tensioning handle i've ever encountered. something like a bike seat clamp would've been infinitely better but no, stiga went with some plastic that felt like something that comes from a christmas cracker in their classic yellow coloring. that was useless from day one and made using it a pain in the arse. After one battery cooked off in the van causing a nightmare of health worries and a more than a days work plus purchase of a new hedge cutter lost i was onto Stiga for warranty claims. This was like dealing with a dodgy garage who've sold you a cut and shut car. The faceless, AI generated emails came back semi reliably. A polite go F'yourself is all you'll get. Don't buy stiga. The dealer i bought from apologised and has stopped stocking them as (safe to assume)he was out of pocket having supplied an e-475 cell replacement. The 2nd hand gear has no resale value. The parts costs, for example, i stripped and tested my sph900ae, the failed part being the ECU type control unit. this costs the exact amount the whole new tool costs. So not only are Stiga tools generally a poor range of products with zero warranty support but they're not the least bit interested in right to repair. Somthing i noted they claim to have signed up to as part of an EU wide campaign to cut waste the result of poor design and planning. This overly tall claim is something notably they boast of in their shareholder reports. I read that whole thing. Not one mention of how they're broadly perceived of as cowboys with innumerable failed projects, lines of tools and dubious business practices. They also boasted of exciting new tool lines in this report, if you follow that thread it led to some secateurs and basic hand tools, clearly basic chinese manufacturing with their Stiga brand printed on it..
