I joined Stitch during the time of Covid19. I was impressed that a lot of events were virtual so I could participate from the comfort of my own farmhouse in the bush. A timid first step, but an easy one. I became a regular disciple of Meditation on a Monday night after work hours. All the participants were lovely. Payment by donation each week you participated. A big thank you to our guru leader. Before long I was intrigued by a poetry writing group writing Haiku, a Japanese form of writing poems. Thank you Kerry for administering this group. I'd been doodling poems for 15 years. My next foray into Stitch was attending an Abba tribute at Taroonga Park Zoo an evening concert organised by Richard of the Stitch 'Young at Hearters'. I travelled over the mountains to Sydney and booked a room at the Y at Central station, caught light rail to Circular Quay and a ferry to Taroonga Park Zoo. Unbeknown to me ferries stop running at 9pm ish, how to get back into the city, in the dark. I phoned a friend, who duly picked me up and drove me into the city, refusing a nightcap. I saw an invite to the Lithgow Stitch group recently for Coffee and Cake at the Tin Shed. I learnt from Terry that there was a Stitch app unbeknown to me. We downloaded it there and then and I've since joined the Bathurst/Orange Group and the Lithgow mob. Next outing is again with the Lithgow team, in my neck of the woods, Yum Cha at Rylstone only 10 minutes from home. The Stitch app makes it so much easier to keep in touch. I'd always just used the website for info and didn't even know there was local country groups. So look out I'm having fun getting more involved.
