From first contact to eventual delivery, this has been a very pleasant, easy-going, and rewarding experience. During the summer of 2025, my wife and I were caravaning in the Peak District. We were joined by our daughter and son-in-law, who had previously purchased a Huxley settee from S.W.James. They were considering an additional chair, and as S.W.James's premises were within easy travelling distance, we accompanied them there. We were met by Warren, who was very pleasant and extremely informative on the history of good Chesterfield suites. Our daughter ordered her new chair and was delighted with the final product. Our input at the time was much more casual. We were considering changing furniture in our sunroom, which is used every day, but we were not giving it serious consideration at that time. Although we were very noncommittal, Warren was still more than happy to give us ideas and a price guide.Fast forward to January 2026, and our decision to definitely replace this furniture. I contacted Warren as our requirements had changed. As a consequence, we flew over from our home in Northern Ireland and had an extremely pleasant morning with him. On this occasion, Warren was much more specific in the details, providing guidance and information on everything from the quality of their leather to frame construction, the composition of cushions, the various furniture style options, and even the type of feet that would suit us best. What we came away with was the furniture equivalent of a quality, tailored suit. It fitted absolutely perfectly. We purchased a three-seater and two two-seater Huxley settees. Each is totally unique and nothing like what could be purchased in-store. We left absolutely delighted with our order.Manufacture was estimated at about six weeks. During this period, Warren kept us well informed with regular updates. He also arranged the final delivery to Northern Ireland. The furniture duly arrived on time. And that's when we ultimately realised what we had purchased. This was a very high-end quality product, clearly covered with superior hides. The aroma alone was something else. If only you could bottle it. The quality of finish was absolutely amazing. You could clearly see these were made by craftsmen who take immense pride in their work. Absolute perfection is the only standard that is acceptable. These settees are a thing of beauty, only surpassed by their magnificent comfort. Warren had warned us that initially, they might feel a bit hard, but once used, they would soften. He was spot on. I could only guess at what their likely cost would be in-store, which would be far in excess of what we paid, but then we would have also lost out on those personal trimmings and features.We are absolutely delighted with our furniture. Thank you, Warren, for taking the time to advise us, and more especially, a massive thank you to all the manufacturing team for their efforts in producing such a superb, high-quality product.I suspect it probably goes without saying, but I will say it anyway, I would highly recommend S.W.James to anyone who is considering purchasing a Chesterfield suite. They might be a little more expensive than an in-store product, but what you receive is far superior in quality, finish, comfort, and, I suspect, life expectancy and ultimately value for money.
