I tried downloading the SysTools Word Recovery tool, but it couldn't repair the damaged files.Talking to Andreas Santos at support he suggested to try a manual recovery. I sent him one file to test and he recovered the content. He also recovered the content of the second file saving me a lot of time.The recovered files was returned as .rtf documents with images and most of the formatting in place.I recommend the service and won't hesitate to use it again.
