Seemingly money oriented

ive been using this vets for some years for both my cat and dog. it wasn’t until after my dogs first dental operation removing 19 teeth that i realised what a money making empire this actually was. after ‘capping’ his operation at £500 i received an invoice adding up to over £800 with each individual item noted on the invoice. naively at this time i assumed they’d done me a favour. 18 months later and his remaining teeth were again painful and decaying i complained to the vets that aside from having to pay yet again so soon for something they should’ve done right to begin with, i was having to traumatise my old dog by putting him through another operation. they agreed to ‘cap’ the operation at £400. how generous right? i took him for a second opinion at the animal trust who offered to do the same operation for £185 as all the teeth should’ve been removed the first time. obviously i couldn’t refuse this price and when i told tameside vets they said they couldn’t match the price. i never assumed they could, so i booked him in with the animal trust. 2 hours later i had tameside vets on the phone again saying they COULD match the price of £185!!! how much money is this vets making if they can justify a payment of £185 for what appeared to be an £800 procedure?? this is just the tip of the iceberg unfortunately. my dog suffered a vestibular episode in 2019, which i googled and researched and then took him to the vet for a check up. they didn’t even check in his ears which is the first thing that could cause the nystagmus and dizziness he’d experienced. instead they charged me £180 for a blood test and told me he was going to have a seizure which naturally alarmed me. no mention of old dog vestibular disease that i had found myself with a bloody google search! i worried of course, he’s my best mate, but it comes to something when the layman is educating the vet on matters of dog health!i wouldn’t be writing this post now if i hadn’t just tried to obtain a prescription of advocate for my cat that they have been providing for years with nothing more than a weight, to be told that they won’t do the prescription until they’ve seen her. they have not only increased their prescription charges but reduced the amount of advocate i can obtain with the prescription from 12 months to 6. i simply cannot justify paying for a consultation that i don’t need (my cat is healthy and well) and then paying for the inflated prescription for a mere 6 months of flea treatment. i feel like they because they haven’t seen me for a while and spent my money with them that maybe they should add on a few extras to get some money in. i have now removed both of my pets from this practice. i never see the same vet twice and all they seem to want is my money, they could care less about my pets.
