Petrina Parker
The worst vet in the country

I first took my pet to this "vet" in April. The issue was diagnosed as gum disease and a tooth extraction was booked in. I was told this would cost "no more than £450-£500". This is the only time price was discussed before treatment (it will become obvious why!). They extracted 4 teeth. Unfortunately the problems only got worse and he was booked in for a x-ray and then more extractions (on many, many teeth that were missed first time!). Why an X-ray was not carried out first occasion they have not yet provided me with an answer. I was also not told this, but there was, in addition to extra teeth that needed removing and would likely have been identified with x-ray, there were roots left as well as reabsorption, that I only discovered after requesting his notes. Why wouldn't they tell me this I wonder? The "vet" called me after the x-ray and asked for permission to remove all teeth behind the canines to prevent the need for an additional operation as he is an elderly cat (17). To which I agreed. No mentioned of money was made until I had already collected him and was sat in the car. I had assumed as they had no fixed the issue originally and no mention of payment whatsoever I was not being charged as, it would appear this operation would have been unnecessary if certain things were done differently first time round. Quite predictably, his problems still worsened. I took him to a different vet (who charge 1/4 of the price of Tameside's), who within seconds spotted inflammation and stuff in his gums behind the canines (stuff which shouldn't be there according to the notes). He is now booked in for a third operation (at the age of almost 18) at this new vets, who lets face it couldn't be any less competent. I don't know what the purpose of this place for is other than to generate money but I don't think it's to care for animals, my pet certainly received nothing resembling care there. I have raised a formal complaint about this disgrace of practise. I fully expect them to be just as useless in addressing this as they are at veterinary care so I guess I'll be seeing in at small claims court unless you issue me with a FULL apology and refund me every single penny I've given to this sickening business.I hope for animal welfare sake this place is out of business soon.Edit: As if I hadn’t been treated badly enough by this shambles of a “vets”, the clinical director, Dr Currid took it upon himself to call me up and throw around childish language such as “you’re a big man”. I hung up on him twice, yet he continued to call and carry on with his disgusting behaviour. His behaviour has not been put explained to me yet. I imagine because there is no charitable explanation for his outbursts.
