Pros:The agency initially appeared efficient. After applying for an invigilator role in October, Teach Now contacted me quickly and guided me through the compliance process. They provided clear instructions on completing the DBS check and other documentation, and their early communication gave the impression that everything was moving smoothly.Cons:Unfortunately, after this positive start, the experience deteriorated significantly. I was repeatedly told that completing all compliance steps quickly was essential because the agency needed me ready to begin working in November. I prioritised everything—paid for my DBS check immediately, submitted all required documents, and responded promptly to every request so that I would meet their timeline.Despite doing everything asked of me, November arrived with no updates, no schedule, and no confirmation of any work. I contacted Teach Now several times for clarity, but each time the response was vague, inconsistent, or simply unhelpful. No one provided a clear explanation of what was happening, why the promised November start date was no longer realistic, or whether there were even roles available. What made the experience particularly disappointing was the lack of accountability. The agency had created a sense of urgency and certainty around a November start, yet when that failed to materialise, no one took responsibility for updating me. Instead, I had to chase them repeatedly, only to be met with unclear answers that left me more confused than before. It felt as though once I had completed my compliance checks, the urgency and interest from their side disappeared entirely.Overall, the process left me feeling misled and undervalued. I invested time, money and effort based on the agency’s assurances, yet they did not follow through on the commitments they made or provide the transparency that any candidate should reasonably expect.Advice to Management:Be honest and transparent with candidates from the outset. If start dates or opportunities are uncertain, say so clearly rather than creating unrealistic expectations. When candidates have spent money on DBS checks and invested time into urgent compliance tasks, they deserve regular updates and genuine clarity—not vague responses and silence. Communication, consistency and accountability need significant improvement.
