Camtasia is an overpriced bug-riddled mess, do not purchase!I made the mistake of buying this after coming across a few positive reviews online that pointed to this being a good starter package for anyone just starting out in video editing.And sure enough if all you want it for is simple, record and edit functions it will likely perform as expected- but their are cheaper and more reliable products available for that purpose.It's when you start getting into anything more advanced that the cracks really begin to show...One or two bugs could be forgiven, but when the software seems to be actively working against you and you spend more time dealing with its many issues than actually editing your project you have to give-in and admit you just paid £270 for a glorified dumpster fire.Some of the bugs that I've encountered whilst using consist of;Deleting segments on the timeline that are overly complex that it doesn't understand.Selecting random segments off-screen whilst editing so that moving or altering one part affects the rest without you knowing.Using trimmed content consistently during transitions even after being repeatedly turned off.The properties menu not responding frequently, with the only fix being a reboot.Crashing to the desktop whenever it is overtaxed.Anything over 20 mins of recorded footage running the risk of just disappearing without warning.Whilst its features are basic and far below par for this gen. of editors;The quality of sound on recordings is poor, The level of transitions is limited,Running anything more than three timelines together will cause it to stall and stutter,And it provides very few ease-of-life features compared to most of its competitors.In closing it does do a good job in rendering your projects once you have won the battle, but getting to that point is beyond a joke. And the quality of video it captures when it decides it wants to is also good, as long as you don't mind not having crystal clear sound. All in all stay clear and find something better
