Ian Hughes
Disgracefully poor repair service.

I purchased a Minimo scooter a few years ago. It fits into the boot of my car and has been an invaluable aid to my mobility. Health issues mean I am not allowed to drive at present and I rely on the scooter for popping to the local shops including the pharmacy for my prescriptions. At purchase I took out a fairly expensive insurance to cover repairs.A fortnight ago a front tyre punctured and a second tyre started to go flat. I called TGA for repair. They promised to call me once a date became available. Having heard nothing after a week I called again only to be told exactly the same thing. Despite explaining how a lack of a scooter was adversely affecting my life the earliest appointment available was a week hence, with an all-day slot. I wrote an email to the Managing Director explaining my frustration. As a disabled person I expect a rapid response to my problem. I am a bit of a prisoner without my scooter. I live on my own and have to rely on others to help me in this situation. As it happened, I had a long-awaited physio appointment in the morning of the repair visit. I explained this in my email to the MD asking for the appointment to be scheduled for a pm visit. I have never received a reply, but I was thinking of upgrading my scooter and had a demonstration visit at home on the day before the repair visit. I explained my issue to the demonstrator and he made a few calls resulting in my appointment being booked as a "last call" in the afternoon. However, the next day I was just leaving home to go to the physio appointment in the morning when I received a call from the TGA engineer saying he was on his way to me. I was so upset that, after explaining what I had arranged with the demonstrator for a pm call, I hung up and left for my physio. Nobody contacted me later. So, after 2 weeks I still have NO repair and DON'T have another appointment date. The bottom line is that I am a disabled person who can't walk, have an unusable scooter, can't get out of the house to the shops, etc and who has insurance to cover necessary repairs. I think that I am entitled to better service.
