I don't have the same truly horrendous experience as anyone here, but it's still scummy. I tried to order a band's album from (what I didn't know at the time was) The Orchard through Bandcamp in March, and as you can probably guess, as of August 25, I have not received my CD. I got zero communications from them, about shipping, delivery notice, anything. They really just took the money and ran. Which really sucks because I specifically wait for Bandcamp Fridays to order anything, to make sure all the money goes to the artist. Instead I just paid some soulless suits. Hell, they might be stealing from that band too...I'm trying to contact Bandcamp about this since, like everyone else here, they won't reply to me, but there was a notice about a high volume of complaints on Bandcamp's contact form, so maybe I'm not alone.
