We booked this restaurant for Mother’s day; we had to provide a pre book order prior to the day. We arrived & had to wait for our table. Once seated our food came out pretty quick, but majority of the dishes were stone cold, as if they hadn’t been heated at all. We were told it’s ok we will heat them in the microwave. The roast potatoes were awful, rock hard, when we mentioned this they brought out more rock hard potatoes. The waitress was lovely & tried her best but the quality of food was very poor. Without even asking we were given 10% off our bill as the staff knew how poor things were but after leaving the restaurant & our partying spending over £500 & discussing how awful an experience it was, we realised that the 10% was not acceptable. I have contacted the restaurant twice via email (the same email as I booked & communicated with the manager on) & I have been ignored on both occasions so I would highly recommend to avoid this restaurant.

Had our 5 year anniversary tonight and we were served by Imogen. Got to say she made our night, it felt so special thanks to her, made us feel so comfortable and welcome and helped us with our food and drink orders. The food and service was immaculate but Imogen topped it off for us. THANK YOU IMOGEN! And thank you to the Ox our favourite place in Bristol with outstanding food. - Felicity and Cadan x
My wife and I decided to go for an NYE Sunday roast and we're glad we chose The Ox! Quite simply the best Sunday roast dinner we've ever had in Bristol. Definitely beats the Sunday roast at Pasture by miles!! It was in a league of it's own. Perfect in every way! The service was impeccable and the overall experience well deserved the 20%+ tip we paid. Will be back soon to try the steak...
I am made to feel very unsafe and unwelcome in Bristol these days, despite being a generous benefactor. However, The Ox is a rare gem in an otherwise unfriendly city. The Sunday roast here is absolutely splendid and worth every groat. I cannot emphasise enough how delicious thine steak is. I spent a tidy few guineas here and dined with trusted friends. The staff are splendid. They worked so hard, one may think they were slaves. I can't wait to dine here again. My most grateful thanks to ye.
I have been here a few times now special trips as we aren’t local! it’s the perfect fine dining experience and amazing chance to have champagne! I always order the bavette it’s beautifully cooked and always amazing seasoned garlic!!!!The staff are amazing very kind and friendly, the chefs and waitress couldn’t do more to help when I asked for my steak to be cooked more (it was my fault!) they gave me a whole fresh steak and plate of food plus extra dishes!! I cannot wait to go back next month! £200 a visit on the OX... WORTH IT!!!
