I’ve booked afternoon tea with another 4 friends at The Ritz. The location is amazing, chandeliers and paintings, perfect scenario for an afternoon tea. But I must confess I was quite disappointed with the service. As we arrived we informed one of the friends was running 15 mins late due to an invisible disability but that we had her tea order. We were sat on the table and the 15 mins passed by and no one came to attend us. I had to head to reception again and ask for a waiter and the excuse was “we thought you were waiting for the last friend”. The waiter came at the same time the last friend arrived. The food does taste really good. We finished the first set of sandwiches and sweets and started, again, the waiving game to call a waiter attention. We had to wait more than 20 mins and when we finally caught someone’s attention and started to order another 2 waiters came and nervously start telling us we would have to leave in 10 mins. We had to insist to bring us more sandwich and sweets.Exactly 10 mins later, they came with the bill and the card machine.Don’t get me wrong, they were all polite but extremely bad organised with the time. It was the first time I’ve left an afternoon tea wanting more food… I think I’ll stick with Fortum and Mason..
