If I could give it less I would. I purchased an afternoon tea as a gift in 2019, unfortunately due to the pandemic there was no opportunity for my mother to fly from Ireland to use the voucher. In March she tried to book her afternoon tea in July when she is due to visit me and was told she had to use it by March 31st. The Ritz had changed the terms and conditions of the purchase without notifying either of us. I subsequently contacted them and was told there was absolutely no flexibility with letting her use the voucher later. Giving someone less than than two weeks to books flights to use a gift which was meant to be a special treat for her ruby wedding anniversary made the whole point of the gift null and void. What was meant to be a special treat has turned into such a source of stress. It took multiple emails back and forth, with customer service assistants completely devoid of any empathy or sensibility in order to highlight that this is not a reasonable approach. I have since been told I will receive a refund however it’s has been 4 weeks and this has not materialised. Today I am being told I will receive the refund after Easter but I will not hold out any hope. I am sorely disappointed in the experience offered by the Ritz. What is meant to be a British institution of class and luxury has in my experience been a nightmare similar to an interaction with rogue traders.
