My family began renovating our kitchen months ago. We chose RTA because we have a great contractor and my husband is pretty good at doing the smaller parts of renovating a kitchen. The cabinets we chose would fit perfectly with what I had in mind. Unfortunately, we ran into some issues with our kitchen renovation, which slowed down our process greatly. The cabinets were delivered, and we tried matching all the boxes as best we could before the delivery person left. Because we couldn't install the cabinets due to the issues in the kitchen, the cabinets stayed in their boxes for a couple of months. A major issue we had: the company that measured our kitchen, measured incorrectly. They were recommended by RTA, who are not at fault for this huge error. ( yes, we had the original measurements from the kitchen, which we took to Home Depot to have them draw up new ones), (our contractor took measurements as well). When we finally began the unboxing and assembly of the cabinets, the blind cabinet was put up and the contractor noticed that something was off. The measurements were off by 5 inches. This error meant that we had no room for fillers or to separate most of the cabinets with the panels. (With the exception of the fridge cabinet) The upper cabinets all above the sink area have no panels in between due to no space. The contractor had to cut panels to cover the exposed cabinet sides where you see the screws, but they do not go in between the cabinets. Thank goodness he figured that out. Now, the left side of the uppers, above the range were going to be installed and of course those measurements were also off. Here, there was too much space and the cabinets would leave a 5 inch gap, a waste of space. So of course, if the uppers are off, so are the lowers. I explained these issues with my designer who immediately sent the info to a claims assistant supervisor. The claims assistant supervisor reviewed the measurements and did agree that they were off and agreed to replace the upper and lower cabinets. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done about the upper right side where there wasn't enough space for panels. As the uppers were installed, on both sides, with the replacement cabinets, we moved on to the Lazy Susan. The measurements were also off and the cabinet was 3 inches too big, again not leaving room for the cabinet, panels and the dishwasher. My husband, I and the contractor kept hitting walls with this and we were very frustrated, trying to figure out how a company which we paid to take precise measurements, could fail this badly. These mistakes cost us time and stress. RTA once again was able to replace the Lazy Susan. Even still, it gave us only enough space with a quarter inch to spare, without being able to put in panels, just making the dishwasher fit. I don't know how they had to resolve this on their end, but RTA worked with us to rectify all these issues. There was also an issue with the pull out trash can. We ordered a single and a double was sent. The double did not fit in the space for the single, so they did replace that as well. One other issue, which they are in process of solving now, is the sink. I had informed the designer that we would be getting a farm sink so we would need a farm sink cabinet. Unfortunately, we were sent a regular sink cabinet, and since a farm sink cabinet wasn't documented, they were unable to replace it. So the contractor had to build up the sink cabinet and add support foe the darm sink cabinet. That presented another issue as well. The doors do not fit the cabinet with this sink and we have had to order the doors which are out of stock at the moment. So, in summary, there have been several issues but RTA has been in constant communication with me through it all and have done well with helping me solve the issues. It has been stressful and sometimes I felt slightly discouraged, but the main issues were due to the measurement company, who by the way, were very rude to myself and to the RTA associate. They never took accountability and blamed and accused me of changing the walls in the kitchen. Very unprofessional and I hope that RTA no longer recommends them to their customers. I hope to finally be done with my RTA kitchen as soon as my sink cabinet doors arrive. This has been a 6 month project, with no kitchen in this home and I will be ecstatic when it's over.
