I was a first time intern and first time associate for the ThinkNeuro Summer 2025 cohort with 0 incoming research experience. I had no clue what I was jumping into as I was not familiar with any research skills, but had the passion to create a change in my community. ThinkNeuro's SRI gave me the tools to navigate in the field of research such as conducting literature reviews, analyzing data, presenting my finds, and becoming familiar programming with R. Furthermore, the SRI gave me the opportunity for leadership skills by critically thinking, delegating, and communicating with my Healthcare Access and Disparities group. (My group was amazing and truly couldn't have done anything without them! I wish them all the luck in their future endeavors!!)I truly believe that this internship opened the door of opportunities for me because not only was I able to receive a spot in the SSEAMS internship for Health Equity that focuses on an independent study for the Fall semester, but I was given the chance to work for the Office of Undergraduate Research and got a paid position as an RA in a lab at my university. This is my first ever RA position in a lab and believe the internship has prepared me to work critically in the field of research.
