I instructed Thompsons Solicitors in August 2023 to pursue a serious claim against my former employer. For an entire year, they led me to believe the case was progressing toward court. In reality, they did absolutely nothing — until just days before the hearing.Without warning, they sacked the solicitor handling my case and replaced them with someone who had no real interest in helping. The new solicitor whitewashed and dismissed key parts of my claim, including serious allegations involving modern slavery, and pressured me to water it down. Then it got worse. The barrister assigned to represent me suddenly went on “annual leave” a few days before the hearing, and was replaced by someone who only reviewed my case the day before court — and flooded me with urgent questions I had no time to respond to.The night before my hearing, I received a letter saying the case was postponed because there was no judge available. After that, the solicitor handed my case back to the original barrister, who mocked the contents and showed no understanding or respect for what I had endured. In a matter of weeks, they completely dismantled my case. Then offered me a £350 "goodwill" payment — which felt like a slap in the face.I’ve submitted a formal complaint to the Legal Ombudsman and asked for it to be prioritised due to how badly this was handled, and because of recent public news involving my former employer. If your case involves anything serious, traumatic, or sensitive — do not trust Thompsons Solicitors. They failed me when I needed them most, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through the same.
