"Protective shipping" is a joke

So I ordered a new phone online along with "protective shipping" and it was being shipped directly from Hong Kong, all was going well when I was informed that my package had arrived in-country two days later. But then the waiting began, although my package was already in the country, it took 10 days for anything to change on my tracking code, then after that change, the "order has been picked up" occurred I waited another 4 days, something was a bit fishy I still, so I phoned the help centre and they placed a priority endorsement on my parcel and told me the package should arrive in three days at the latest. 3 days past, still nothing, so I phoned the call centre again, I was put on hold as they checked to see what's going on, I was then told that the warehouse after a quick check they couldn't find any traces of my package, so they decided that they would conduct a thorough search of the warehouse and call me back in at most two hours. two hours pass, nothing, so I wait an hour more and then phone back. I was told that the person in charge of finding my package is on break and that the person I was speaking to would put a note on her desk to remind her to call me. four hours pass, nothing. So I phone back again and receive the news that they cannot find any trace of my package and are now conducting a 24-48 hour search of all depots nationwide, to make sure that there have been no mix-ups, but I was also told that "it is highly likely the package has gone missing and if so, we will replace it". So after paying extra for "protective shipping", for my expensive package, I am told that it is lost, some protection. Toll picked up my package on the 14th of August it is now the 1st of September and I am now informed that the package was lost and they don't know where.
