Paid to take my family on a trip via train. I am severely allergic to dogs. I was unaware that dogs were allowed to travel by train and find this highly unhygienic, but that being said, I was absolutely appalled to find that there are no health and safety measures in place to ensure that people with allergies like myself are not seated near pets. I was not asked at any point in the booking process if I had an allergy and I ended up having a severe allergic reaction on my trip as I was seated near one dog on the route out (which was also sat on a seat which is disgusting) and on the return trip was sat next to 2 dogs. I have made a complaint as the staff were really unhelpful on board and refused to help my situation as they were “busy working” and the complaints team were even more unhelpful reciting terms and conditions that “dogs are allowed to travel on board”. They have completely missed the point that my complaint is not centered around the fact that there were dogs on the train, my complaint is that they literally have no health and safety on board to avoid this for people who do have allergies. I find it disgusting as a paying customer, there is no option or willingness for the company to take my health and safety seriously and simply have pet-friendly and non-pet friendly carriages, just like they do with first class and economy when they’re happy to take extra money from people. I would not travel again with this revolting company
