It was all going remarkably well on the train company of last resort - the train was on time, there were no incidents with power-mad staff and there was even some spare seats. I think this was the first time all three standards had been met by TPE in my experience. Then; an hour's delay due to an "operational matter". The absolute shambles that is TPE simply cannot get it right - surely it's time to let the people running LNER have a go at turning this bad joke around? They paid me back my whole fare, how does it make sense to run a business this badly?
