I started training with Abs in 2021 after years and years of struggling with a negative body image, restrictive eating, binging and inconsistent/ineffective exercise. The pandemic especially exacerbated my sense of control and unfortunately this manifested in me overexercising, obsessively tracking with my Fitbit and eating no more than 1200 calories a day. I thought this was the only way to get results I was satisfied with, but didn’t realise how much I was jeopardising my health. (I lost my period for months and never connected the dots as I wasn’t “underweight”, then was diagnosed with atypical anorexia.) So when I found Abs on social media her content really resonated with me. It was the first time I’d heard of reverse dieting and I was baffled to learn that maybe my metabolism wasn’t broken, I just had to EAT. I was still too anxious to step foot in a gym so Abs personalised workout plans for me to do at home and I became more confident using weights. It was also a whole new concept to me to use food tracking apps not to restrict, but to actually check I was eating enough and getting a good amount of protein. Abs is highly knowledgeable and very encouraging, but I’ve never felt pressured to move faster than I’m comfortable with and last year I finally decided I was ready to join the gym - I’m SO glad I did. The workouts are accessible and enjoyable but still challenging. I don’t feel overwhelmed and it’s so helpful to have it all planned out for you by an expert! A lot of effort goes into Abs’s feedback after each check-in which is supportive and ego boosting. I am so SO much more comfortable in my body and confident in my abilities than I was 5 years ago. My relationship with food and eating has massively changed. I’m far more educated about nutrition and stronger mentally and physically. I think I still would have been lost on my fitness journey without Abs and it’s been invaluable to have her support along the way <3
