I used Translation Online for certified translations of two birth certificates and unfortunately had a very poor experience. The original translations contained multiple errors, including missed reference numbers, omitted content and incorrectly translated details that were clearly legible on the original documents. I contacted the company immediately to request a refund due to concerns about accuracy. I was asked to give them another opportunity to correct the work, which I agreed to.After carefully reviewing the documents, I highlighted all the mistakes and sent them by email, as well as explaining the issues several times over the phone. An amended version was provided, however it still contained a missing paragraph. I raised this again but the company continued to insist that everything had been checked, did not accept responsibility for the mistake and attributed issues to handwriting, which was clearly readable. As I had lost confidence in the accuracy of the translations, I requested a refund and asked them not to send the documents by post. They refunded the postage fee only. After further back and forth, I resent the documents with the missing paragraph clearly highlighted just to proof my point. Only at that point was the omission corrected and a further revised version sent to me, despite me already confirming that I no longer wished to use their services. The company then refused to refund the remaining fee £84 stating that the work had now been completed.Based on my experience, I found the quality control and complaint handling disappointing, particularly for a company advertising certified translations for official use and not accepting their mistakes when they were clearly demonstrated.
