I am filing a complaint regarding deceptive and unauthorized billing practices by Triips (with two i’s). 1. No Clear ConsentI do not recall ever knowingly signing up for this service. I only realized there was a problem when I saw a charge on my account and noticed the unusual spelling (“Triips” instead of “Trips.com”). This kind of branding creates consumer confusion. 2. Unauthorized ChargeA charge was processed to my account without my informed consent. I contacted the company immediately upon noticing the charge to dispute it, which demonstrates I was not aware of or agreeing to any ongoing subscription. 3. Misleading Defense by CompanyWhen I reached out, the company responded by sending me a “timeline” of account activity, including email opens, and claimed that opening their marketing emails counted as using their service. This is not valid proof of use. Marketing emails are not paid service engagement. 4. Failure to Provide Clear TermsThe company has not shown that it provided me with clear, conspicuous renewal terms or obtained my affirmative consent for an automatic subscription, as required under consumer protection and automatic renewal laws. 5. Resolution RequestedI am requesting: • A full refund of the charge • Written confirmation that my subscription is canceled • Assurance that no further billing attempts will occur
