I'm 24 years old and had my hair transplant with UK Hair on the 10th of November 2023. I got ~2,300 grafts.Hopefully this review helps people calm their nerves and be less scared about the entire procedure. If you're nervous of any pain or discomfort, DON'T BE.When I first went ahead to get my hair transplant, I had a video consultation with Nigel. This lasted about 10-15 minutes, he explained the cost and how the procedure would work with me. He made the process simple and answered any questions I had. He recommended I start taking Finasteride, so I decided to go ahead with this - please ask about any side effects to Nigel, there are some people may be concerned about it, but I wasn't so much & I have suffered no side effects from this at all. This is also where you will pay your deposit and be quoted for your grafts.A few weeks later, I then attended my in person consultation in Glasgow. The only issue I had here is that I found out I needed more grafts than initially quoted, so I had to pay a large additional sum of money. Luckily I had money saved, so wasn't so much of a problem - but definitely could be for less fortunate people. Paul, who did this consultation was professional and checked my donor area to ensure I was a suitable candidate for this procedure. I was only here for around 10 minutes and it was another easy process. Then, on the 10th of November, I went in for my surgery in Manchester, extremely nervous, so much so I was shaking. Dr Tatianna and her team are extremely welcoming and will make you feel at ease as well as answer any questions that you have. Before the procedure she drew out my desired hairline to my needs and then gave me some antibiotics and diazepam. You then lay face down and the anaesthetic is injected into the back of your head a few times. To anyone reading this worried, please don't. You will feel a very, very slight nip of the anaesthetic, but the needle itself is painless. After this is done, the donor extraction is literally painless - I felt nothing. This part took around 2.5 hours in my case and it's just a case of moving on your back and sides a few times so that the Doctor can extract. Once this part is done, you then get anaesthetic on the top of your head and you get to watch a film of your choice. They then made incisions (took about 20 minutes I'd say). The anaesthetic and needle are again, very slightly nippy, but very bearable. Again, after this, everything is absolutely painless. After the incisions they implanted the grafts, I suppose how long this takes depends on how many grafts you get, but in my case it was about 3.5 hours - it flies in when you're watching a film. After that, the surgery is over and in my experience there was absolutely no pain whatsoever up until now, 1 week later. The worst part of it for me, was the swelling, this is painless but extremely annoying. It travelled down my face for about 2 days, then entirely disappeared. This will happen to anyone though who gets this surgery, but again, no pain in the aftercare process. After 1 week, I am now in routine of washing my hair gently (and finally off of that neck pillow), but the difference I can already see in my hairline is crazy, the results really are good. Chelsea, my coordinator has called me a good few times to catch up and answer any questions I have, which has been a great help.I hope this review helps someone who might be as nervous as I was before any of this, but trust me, none of it is as bad as you're thinking - especially the needles, which you won't even see.If it lets me, I will update this review monthly :)Thank you again to UK Hair, Dr Tatianna and her team, as well as Chelsea.
